As you are likely aware, the first cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) were announced for the State of Colorado last week. At Budget Blinds of Greater Colorado Springs we take the health and safety of our employees and customers very seriously. As local owners, my wife Dina and I take pride in our community and we have always done what we reasonably can to impact Colorado Springs, El Paso and Teller counties, and our neighboring communities in a positive way. With this latest information regarding COVID-19 in our region, we want to assure you that Budget Blinds of Greater Colorado Springs is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our customers and employees.

Several guidelines to combat the disease have been developed by agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Our response plan to COVID-19 is based on suggested protocols from the CDC and WHO as well as additional protocols that we feel are both prudent and sensible for our company and the customers we serve.

Sickness and Preventative Measures

Our entire staff (office, sales, & installation) has been thoroughly briefed and recognize the importance of proper hygiene in combating the spread of COVID-19. Proper hygiene and preventative measures are posted in prominent locations throughout our offices. (We are committed to care for our employees; Budget Blinds of Greater Colorado Springs was voted Best Workplace in Colorado Springs among small-medium sized employers in 2019.)

We want you to be aware that everyone on our team is a full-time employee with health benefits. There will be no delays in seeking excellent health care as necessary. If any employee of Budget Blinds is sick and/or has been in contact with someone they know is sick, they are instructed to not report to work and seek medical care.

Budget Blinds of Greater Colorado Springs is primarily a “store to your door” business. Not only are we taking additional measures to provide a safe, sanitary environment in our workplace and showroom, but also in your home as we serve you. If an employee feels ill, every precaution must be taken and they will not be sent to fulfill the consultation and/or installation appointment. We will contact you immediately and reschedule. If you (the client) feel ill, please do not hesitate to re-schedule your appointment. We completely understand and respect your decision. These protective measures are in everyone’s long term interest.

Active Procedures in Place
  • We disinfect thoroughly between every customer encounter. This includes disinfecting any handheld electronics (such as mobile devices, tablets, handheld electronic writing devices, etc), work surfaces, door handles, steering wheels and measuring tools.
  • We are increasing the frequency of disinfecting the showroom, counters, bathrooms, and other high touch surfaces in our offices.
  • We are temporarily a “no handshake” environment for the safety of our customers and employees.

Whether at home or work, we require all employees to follow these best-practice preventative measures that have been identified by leading health care agencies:

  • Washing hands frequently for at least 20 seconds under hot running water and avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Covering mouth and nose with a flexed elbow or tissue when coughing and sneezing.
  • Discarding tissues in a garbage can and cleaning hands after coughing or sneezing.
  • Maintaining a 3-6 foot distance from people.
  • Disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces.

No (source: World Health Organization). “The new coronavirus cannot be transmitted through goods manufactured in China or any country reporting COVID-19 cases,” the World Health Organization says. “Even though the new coronavirus can stay on surfaces for a few hours or up to several days (depending on the type of surface), it is very unlikely that the virus will persist on a surface after being moved, travelled, and exposed to different conditions and temperatures.” Additionally, the WHO said, ”If you think a surface may be contaminated, use a disinfectant to clean it. After touching it, clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.”

Will there be a delay in receiving my product?

It’s possible. The majority of the custom window treatments we install are not delayed in any way, but some of Budget Blinds’ vendors have factories in Europe & China and they are being impacted by this event. As a result, we cannot guarantee ship dates for existing orders, or for any new orders we receive. We simply do not know when production schedules will return to normal (North American made product is currently not experiencing shipping delays).

We are confident that our vendors are doing everything possible to minimize the impact of this outbreak on their business, but they must comply with government mandates and rely on the response of their shipping partners. Presently, all of our orders with impacted manufacturers are scheduled to ship with approximate 2-3 week delays beyond original estimated timeframes, but that could change. We will notify you of any significant changes in status as they occur. We definitely understand that this may be inconvenient or frustrating, and we value your business and appreciate your patience.

Do I have to touch/sign on your mobile device to complete my purchase?

No. Although we disinfect all devices we use in your home, we can also process your purchase via phone call to our office. We accept American Express, Visa and MasterCard and all transactions are encrypted. We do not store any credit card information in our files. Additionally, we offer financing options subject to approved credit and accept cash/check as well.

What do I need to do to prepare for my consultation or installation?

Selecting new window treatments is fun! Having new window treatments from Budget Blinds professionally installed is even more satisfying. And since we are focused on health and safety first, we ask that our customers follow these procedures:

  • Please wash your hands or use hand sanitizer prior to or upon our arrival
  • If you are sick, exhibiting any symptoms of a virus, have been exposed to a COVID-19 patient, or have traveled to a Level 2 country or higher, please reschedule your appointment
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then dispose of it immediately
  • Avoid touching your face and mouth
  • Temporarily suspend handshakes
